Our media blasting service has proven to be one of the most versatile in Edmonton.
Here are just a few reasons why:

  • We use a variety of media, including walnut shells, corn husks, soda, glass, plastic and steel.
  • Our Blast Recovery System unit allows for safer, cleaner operation.
  • Our indoor media blast facility, a feature unique to Frank’s Sandblasting, enables us to contain a surface’s hazardous byproducts according to government regulations.
  • 5 portable blast units let us bring our skills directly to your jobsite.
  • Some of our units allow for two operators – we’ll get twice the work done with one machine.

Indoor Steel Grit Blast Booth

In 2007, Frank’s Sandblasting and Painting opened a second location in Leduc. Looking into the future with our customer’s needs in mind, much consideration was given to an innovative change in the sandblasting industry. This included the installation of an inside blast room which uses a steel grit instead of the traditional sand. The system has proven to be economic, reliable and environmentally friendly. This change has also increased the safety of our workers which is extremely important to us in our day to day operation.

Industrial Coatings and Painting

We have a great deal of experience with various types of coatings. Originally, we started with primers and industrial enamels based on the single stage alkyd system. This progressed to two pack systems with epoxy primers and urethane topcoats. These have changed over the years so that induction times are no longer needed for the epoxy primers and the VOC’s (volatile organic compounds) have been reduced with out a marked difference in the spray ability of the products. We have used many 100% solid coatings for tank linings and vessels. We cater to the customer demand for product and have sprayed products from a variety of suppliers. With this vast experience of coatings we are able to meet a great variety of customer needs.

Fireproofing Structural Steel

Structural steel requires external insulation (fireproofing) in order to prevent the steel from weakening in the event of a fire. When heated, steel expands and softens, eventually losing its structural integrity. Given enough energy, it can also melt. Heat transfer to the steel can be slowed by the use of fireproofing materials.  Frank’s Sandblasting and Painting is pleased to be able to offer this service to our customers and welcome all inquiries.

Spray Foam Application

Frank’s Sandblasting and Painting is also proud to offer the installation of medium two pound density polyurethane. Application can be done on commercial, residential and industrial structures. Foam insulation combats heat loss and air infiltration better than any other standard insulation system. Unlike traditional insulation, it won’t contribute to moisture-related decay and mould. This foam application can be done at either one of our in-house locations or through the use of our mobile unit.
